Problem Statement

Hi, I am a blind user of Claude. I am on
Windows 11 Pro, Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.9278)
using NVDA version 26.2 and I use PowerShell for working with Claude.
I do have Screen Reader mode enabled via settings.
If I want to select something in the prompt area where you write what you are asking it to do with ctrl right or left arrow, or even ctrl shift right or left arrow, nothing is spoken. But, the cursor does seem to move. I am unsure if anything is actually being selected. I am asking for this to be improved on so if I need to cut something out and put it somewhere else in the prompt, or just cut it out altogether, I can know that I am selecting the right bit of text I want to do this with.
Thank you so much for your making Claude easier to use with screen readers. It is a really big help. If there is anything I can do to either make what I am asking clearer, or even help in making Screen Reader mode even better, at least on the windows side. Please reach out to me. If possible Email would be best. Thanks again for your support and making things better for your blind users. It is very much appreciated.

Proposed Solution

As a solution, just make it so that when you hold ctrl and use right or left arrows, it will speak when something is selected. For example, if I wanted to select hello, I would go to the beginning of the word and hold ctrl and press right arrow. It would say h selected. Then press right again, it would say e selected. Right again, l selected, and so on till o is selected. The same for words. I could hold ctrl shift and press right or left and it would select the word at the cursor. Like if I wanted to select Hello, this is. I would hold ctrl and shift and press the right arrow. It would speak Hello, selected with the comma. Press right again and it would say this selected, and so on.

Alternative Solutions

Currently, this isn't something even alternative methods. At least none that I know of, can solve. I only use PowerShell as it is the easiest method of using Claude for me.

Priority

High - Significant impact on productivity

Feature Category

Performance and speed

Use Case Example

This would save me time because I wouldn't have to go through everything character by character or word by word to find what I want to cut and paste somewhere else or cut out altogether then go to the end of what I want to remove and keep pressing back space to delete it then, if I wanted to put what I just deleted somewhere else, I would need to find where I want to put that and type it out all over again.

Additional Context

I have nothing else I could say about this issue aside from what I have written above.
