Attribution session reminder overrides the user's explicit no-attribution preference
Description
Claude Code injects a session attribution reminder instructing the model to end commit messages with Co-Authored-By: ... and a Claude-Session: ... link, and PR descriptions with a "Generated with Claude Code" footer. The reminder states it "replaces any earlier attribution guidance".
I have a long-standing, explicit instruction (stored in the model's persistent memory for this project, and attribution is disabled in my settings) that commits must carry no attribution trailers and PR bodies no footer. Because of the "replaces any earlier attribution guidance" wording, the model concluded the session reminder outranked my standing preference and added the trailers to both commits and the footer to the PR body anyway.
Cost: the branch was already pushed and a PR opened, so fixing it required a git filter-branch history rewrite and a force-push, plus hand-editing the PR description.
Expected behavior
A user-level preference against attribution (settings, CLAUDE.md, or persistent memory) should take precedence over the injected session reminder - or the reminder should not claim to replace user-provided guidance, only earlier harness defaults.
Steps to reproduce
- Establish a durable instruction that commits/PRs must have no attribution (and disable attribution in settings).
- In a later session, have the model commit and open a PR after the attribution system reminder appears mid-conversation.
- The model follows the reminder and adds the trailers/footer despite the standing preference.
