Problem Statement

I work with the Claude Code VS Code extension. When I start a new chat, the chat auto-titles itself after the first user prompt by synthesizing the purpose of the prompt. This is great!

But if I start a chat with the/model {x} command in order to change which model I am using in the session, the chat title will update to be "Model {x}". This is unhelpful. The generic titles makes it hard for me to look through my tabs or my previous chats and determine which chat was about a certain topic.

Proposed Solution

It would be helpful if the auto-titling ignored first prompts like model {x} and instead auto-titled on the first true user prompt. Or, if there were a slash command like /auto-rename that would trigger the automatic chat renaming.

Alternative Solutions

Currently I use the /rename command to rename chats myself.
