Claude Desktop 1.46388.1 on macOS 26.6.2, Code tab, Claude Code 2.1.258, model claude-fable-5-1.
What happens
When the question field of an AskUserQuestion call contains line breaks, the dialog shows the whole body as one run-on line. I tried a numbered list with one item per line, and the same list with a blank line between items. Both render inline.
The tool input in the session transcript (~/.claude/projects/**/*.jsonl) has the newlines, so they are lost at render time, not by the model.
Expected
Line breaks preserved in the question body, or the field documented as single-line so models keep it to a sentence.
