Desktop app: let the agent create and manage tab groups (group spawned sessions with their parent)

Problem

In the Claude Code desktop app, an agent working in one tab often offers to spin off related work into a new tab (for example, a follow-up task it flagged while fixing an app bug). Over a working day this produces many tabs, and the sidebar gives no way to tell which tab belongs to which job. The parent tab and the tabs it spawned end up scattered among unrelated sessions.

Request

Expose tab grouping to the model as a tool, so the user can simply say things like:

  • "Group your tabs by the job they are working on."
  • "Put every tab you spawned into the same group as you."

Concretely:

  1. A tool the agent can call to create a group, name or rename it, and move sessions (its own and ones it spawned) into it.
  2. A sensible default: a session spawned from another session lands in its parent's group automatically.
  3. Manual drag-and-drop stays available for the user, and the model's changes show up in the sidebar immediately.

Why it matters

The agent already knows which tabs belong together, because it created them. Today only the human can organize them, and the human is the one who lacks that context. Letting the model organize its own spawned work would make multi-tab, multi-job sessions much easier to follow.
