What's Wrong?

What happens

Every time I dictate text using Spokenly on macOS, the Claude desktop app shows
this toast:

⚠️ Your clipboard changed during Claude's interaction. If you didn't just copy something yourself, check it before pasting.

It fires again and again, all day, during completely normal use.

Why it happens

Spokenly — like Wispr Flow, TextExpander, Raycast, Alfred and basically every other
clipboard-based text-insertion tool on macOS — inserts text like this:

  1. write the transcript to the clipboard
  2. send a paste keystroke
  3. restore the previous clipboard contents

So a single dictated sentence produces two clipboard writes. The clipboard guard
sees them and warns. Nothing malicious is happening; this is the standard way
text insertion is implemented on macOS.

Why this is a problem

The warning is a false positive 100% of the time in my setup. Because it is always
wrong, I now dismiss it reflexively without reading it, which destroys whatever
security value it was supposed to have — if it ever fires for a genuine reason I
won't register it.

There is also no way to opt out: I found no setting in ~/.claude/settings.json,
no toggle in the app, and because it is an in-app toast it cannot be silenced via
macOS System Settings → Notifications either. Spokenly has no clipboard-free
insertion mode, so I can't fix it from that side.

No other application on my Mac behaves this way. Spokenly works perfectly
everywhere else and I have no complaints about it. Claude is the only app that
treats a routine macOS text-insertion pattern as something to warn me about.

Related

Almost certainly the same underlying problem as #87684 (reported with Wispr Flow),
though the toast string there is different ("Your app copied to the clipboard
during Claude's interaction"), so there may be more than one code path that emits
these warnings.

What Should Happen?

What I'd like

  1. A setting to disable the warning — on by default, off for those who want it.
  2. Better attribution — don't warn about clipboard writes from the frontmost

app while the user is actively typing or dictating, and recognise the
write → paste → restore-within-~1s pattern.

  1. At minimum, a "don't show again" button on the toast, even if session-scoped.
