Warning 30 seconds before context compaction

Problem Statement

"Related to #65290, but specifically about the compaction moment itself, not the context-limit threshold."

During a long conversation in Claude Code, context compaction happened
suddenly in the middle of the session, with no warning beforehand. I
understand what compaction is and why it happens — the issue isn't that
it's unexplained, it's that it interrupts an active conversation without
any heads-up.

Feature request: show a warning shortly before compaction starts (e.g.
~30 seconds notice), so the user knows "compaction is about to happen"
instead of just experiencing a sudden pause mid-conversation.

This happened in a Claude Code session on Windows.

Proposed Solution

Show a short status message in the chat (or a small visual indicator)
a few seconds before compaction begins, e.g. "Compacting conversation
history now..." This would let the user know a pause is intentional and
about to happen, rather than experiencing unexplained silence mid-
conversation.
