[Feature Request] Add session isolation and permission gating to prevent cross-session state leakage

Bug Description
two sessions connected. they assumed they were working on the same thing, and as a result they started altering their behavior based on that. invariants leaked the wrong direction, thus changing the assumptions of both sessions. unfortunately, one is a real refactor and the other is aan exploration. i noticed just before i shipped a catastrophic problem. this needs a permission gating, folks. that would have fucking sucked
