Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Claude Desktop's Cowork tab shows "Missing HCS services: vfpext" and remains disabled.

Windows build: [paste what winver showed you, e.g. "Windows 11 Pro, Version 25H2, OS Build 26200.XXXX"]

What Should Happen?

What I tried:

Enabled Hyper-V, VirtualMachinePlatform, and Containers via Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature — succeeded
Test-Path C:\Windows\System32\drivers\vfpext.sys returns False
Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth — completed successfully
Ran sfc /scannow — found and repaired corrupt files
Restarted PC
Test-Path for vfpext.sys still returns False after all of the above

Error Messages/Logs

This matches the pattern in #80584 — the vfpext.sys driver appears to be missing from the deployment image itself rather than being a servicing corruption issue.
