[Bug] Agent Overstepping Requested Scope Despite Explicit Instructions
Bug Description
The agent does what is not requested all the time, I ask it to scaffold the class only - it generates the class, tests - wants to run the tests and starts to fix some other stuff - all this was not requested. Even when I add it to ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md the request:
- Do only what was explicitly asked; don't generate code that was not requested
- Do not move over to the testing stage before getting approval on the code; instead reassess the code and try to spot redundant or overcomplicated logic if it exists
It still occasionally violates it.
It feels like it has some additional instructions from you guys to do that and cannot deal with this conflict.
This issue annoys me - I have to always keep a very close eye on what he's doing to stop it when it does what is not requested.
Can you be flexible or provide modes:
- independent mode: you just ask help - the agent goes along and implements it all without your input
- non-confident: every time asks your input if runs into issue or concern, doesn't do what is not requested
Because now if acts in the first mode and I can't do anything. I want the second mode where he acts carefully
Thanks
