Bug Description
Run stopped because the auto mode classifier failed due to a Sonnet 5 1m outage. In the future, it would be great if Claude Code would automatically fall back to e.g. Opus low for the auto classifier in these cases.

+1 with data. The classifier runs on the session's own model with no fallback — in our fleet the error text named
claude-sonnet-5(Sonnet sessions) andclaude-opus-4-8[1m](fast-mode sessions), 80 blocking events across 12 sessions in 2 days, bursting in peak UTC windows (detailed forensics: https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/74949#issuecomment-5008634344). A cheap fallback tier (e.g. Haiku) for the safety classifier would have kept us on auto mode; instead we had to switch the org to bypassPermissions permanently, which removes the safety layer this feature exists to provide.Is there any workable workaround we can use meanwhile? Using auto mode is currently very frustrating.
+1 I'm paying $200/mo Claude Max and getting blocked by a classifier rate limiting in auto mode for a fixed set of edit commands... this is just dumb!
