Claude Docs: Set up Claude Code: Standard installation says: "Run claude doctor after installation to check your installation type." But claude doctor led me astray.

What's Wrong or Missing?

The documentation doesn't warn you that claude doctor leads you astray if your npm global prefix is ~/.local (the same as the native install).

Suggested Improvement

Until issue #7734 is fixed, Claude Docs: Set up Claude Code should mention it.

I googled: how to install claude code. The fist hit for me was Claude Docs: Set up Claude Code, but those instructions came up short.
