My husband and I have complementary domain expertise (he was an early developer of Atlassian Confluence; I worked in the Jira Service Management space). We want to brainstorm a product idea with Claude together — one shared conversation, with all its accumulated context, memory, and project state.
Today's workaround and why it falls short
The only option is sharing one keyboard and manually prefixing each message with "Charles:" or "Donna:". It sort of works, but:
Claude has to take our word for who's speaking — attribution is unverified and easy to forget
No way to participate from two devices, or asynchronously ("Charles replied while you were out")
Claude's persistent memory is single-user, so it can't build up context about each participant separately
What I'd want
Invite a second Anthropic account into an existing conversation (owner controls who joins)
Messages attributed to the actual sender, so Claude reliably knows who said what and can address each person
Both participants see the same live session — shared context, files, and history
Works across surfaces (desktop app, mobile, claude.ai) so one person can join from their phone
Who else this helps
Co-founders working through a decision, couples planning anything substantial (finances, renovations, trips), pair-programming/design sessions, a senior dev joining a colleague's debugging session mid-conversation. Basically any case where the thinking is collaborative but the AI session is currently single-player.

A way to get the two-people, one-conversation part today: start Claude Code with
shell claudeand send the link to your husband. He opens it in a browser on his own machine and is in the same live session, same context, and you both type into it. Nothing to install on his side. It is one terminal, so Claude sees you as one user rather than two named participants, and the link is a bearer credential, so treat it like a password. macOS/Linux, MIT. https://github.com/TeoSlayer/shell.onlineIt does not give you separate identities or a shared memory that outlives the session, which is what this request is really asking Anthropic for.

I'm doing some research for a school project on how people use AI when more than one person is involved, and your description of sharing one keyboard with your husband and starting each message with "Charles:" or "Donna:" caught my attention. What I'm trying to understand is what the two of you are trying to get done together, and what the shared keyboard is standing in for. @thesupportdiva thank you for getting back to me, and sorry for the confusion. It was your comment further up this issue from July (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/77052#issuecomment-4954215615), where you wrote that you and your husband wanted to brainstorm a product idea with Claude together, and that for now you were sharing one keyboard and starting each message with your names. I'd really like to hear how that brainstorming has gone since then, and what you ended up doing. Ya. I’m afraid all I can say is that pairing using Claude doesn’t work very well at the moment. We’ve basically gone back to using our own Claude instance. Sorry!

If it's okay to ask one last thing: now that you're each using your own Claude, how do the two of you bring your ideas together, for example by talking it through or sharing what Claude came up with? Actually, we’re just using Claude on independent projects atm so no collaboration.
