[Bug] Multiline string syntax highlighting not applied consistently

Bug Description
In the Claude Code terminal, multiline strings don't render correctly (i.e., when Claude writes multiline strings as comments, the first line is correctly identified as part of a string, but other lines aren't, and therefore keywords can get colored differently.
