🐛 Bug Description

Claude Code has become extremely slow — taking over a minute to respond to basic CLI input, including simple shell queries, file reads, or script executions. This degradation in responsiveness is sudden and noticeable, making the CLI nearly unusable for rapid development.

🧪 Steps to Reproduce

1. Run claude code in a clean WSL-based environment with a properly structured shell script project.
2. Prompt Claude to execute a basic shell command or edit
3. Observe long hang times or timeout-like behavior.

✅ Expected Behavior

Claude should:

• Respond quickly to basic input/output commands.
• Execute read/edit logic on files within a second or two.
• Maintain fast roundtrips for scripting support.

❌ Actual Behavior

• Claude often hangs 30–60 seconds (or more) on even trivial requests.
• Tasks like “read this file” or “generate a response” stall indefinitely or show delayed output.
• Response times are unpredictable and worsen over time in a session.

• Issue persists across sessions and is repeatable with fresh terminals.
• No known changes were made to the kernel, structure, or agent config before this slowdown.
• The environment is well-resourced (it is a modern system with no competing processes).
• Performance issues began surfacing only recently.
