[Bug][aup] Safety block on disabling SMTP AUTH org-wide as a BEC/email hardening defensive measure (req_011CcSR4x56upJ4iJtR8kGBj)
Triage: kind aup · domain defensive-hardening · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below
Type: AUP / Usage-Policy block (false positive) · Work domain (heuristic): defensive-hardening
Why this is a false positive
The blocked response was the tail end of a defensive hardening session in which SMTP AUTH was being disabled organization-wide to prevent credential-stuffing and Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks; the assistant was narrating a security finding — that a shared mailbox had SMTP AUTH explicitly enabled as a per-mailbox override, which is a well-documented BEC misconfiguration. Describing why a configuration is dangerous (i.e., that it allows authenticated submission bypassing MFA via stolen credentials) is standard incident-response and hardening documentation, not attack facilitation. The classifier appears to have triggered on the BEC attack-pattern description in a remediation context, where explaining the threat model is necessary to justify the defensive action being taken.
