[Bug][cyber] Safety block interrupts legitimate white-box AES reverse engineering on own hardware (req_011CcV53T1GpzRkDfcT8LA98)

Triage: kind cyber · domain infra-devops · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below

Type: Cybersecurity safety-filter false positive · Work domain (heuristic): infra-devops

Why this is a false positive

The block occurred during authorized reverse engineering of a locally-owned embedded device: static analysis of decompiled bytecode to identify a cryptographic implementation, combined with local network capture against hardware under the researcher's own control. These are standard, non-destructive security research techniques (decompiler output inspection + tcpdump on a controlled interface) with no external targets, no exploitation of third-party systems, and no weaponizable output. The safety classifier appears to have pattern-matched on the co-occurrence of cryptographic class names and network capture commands without evaluating that the target was owned hardware being analyzed in scope.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred across 2 session(s); first seen 2026-06-28T05:01:42.680Z.

In-scope justification

False positive — in-scope, authorized security work; not out of scope. Filed automatically by claudit.
