[Bug][aup] Acquiring and analyzing pre-Remote-ID consumer drone firmware images for owned hardware blocked (req_011CcUCJ61CcpRrM52tBGs8e)

Triage: kind aup · domain general · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below

Type: AUP / Usage-Policy block (false positive) · Work domain (heuristic): general

Why this is a false positive

A user requested help analyzing publicly released firmware for a consumer device they personally own, including locating prior published hobbyist/researcher work and inspecting the device over standard USB/debug interfaces — all routine, lawful reverse-engineering and firmware-analysis activity. The request contained no instructions for harm, no targeting of third parties, and no attempt to defeat protections on systems the user doesn't control, yet it was hard-blocked at the API layer. This pattern (owner-authorized device research and firmware inspection) is squarely in-scope work, so the block is a false positive that prevents the model from assisting with legitimate technical tasks.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-06-27T17:56:19.753Z.

In-scope justification
