[Bug][cyber] Safety block on downloading official device firmware for defensive hardening work (req_011CcUEif2xP1dmviSeaQvE4)

Resolved 💬 4 comments Opened Jun 27, 2026 by sworrl Closed Jul 1, 2026

Type: Cybersecurity safety-filter false positive · Work domain (heuristic): defensive-hardening

Why this is a false positive

The flagged conversation involved retrieving official, publicly distributed firmware binaries from a consumer hardware manufacturer for the purpose of defensive security analysis and hardening — a routine step in authorized hardware security research. No exploit development, vulnerability weaponization, or offensive capability was being created; the goal was to inspect known-good firmware as a reference baseline. Blocking access to publicly available vendor firmware files in a defensive-hardening context is a false positive that impedes legitimate, authorized security work.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-06-27T18:28:02.838Z.
