[Bug] Claude Code uses downgraded model instead of selected Opus 4.8

Bug Description
Claude code uses lower model to the one i selected. i selected Opus 4.8 but the session says My knowledge cutoff is August 2025. when i probe further it says "The model I'm running as is Claude Sonnet 4.6 (exact ID claude-sonnet-4-6) — that's stated in my environment context for this session." i confirmed my usage and i am within my limit. why is that? On the cutoff: my reliable training knowledge runs to August 2025. That's why I genuinely didn't know about Gemma 4
