[Bug] TUI strips XML tags from agent response after streaming completes

Bug Description
i think the new tui strips xml tags from the agent response. i have a prompt optimizer that structures my requests in cc best practices, i.e. xml tags etc. but they get stripped in the terminal now but i see them in the claude desktop app - i also saw them render initially when teh response was being streamed but they disappeared as soon as the response was completed
