[BUG] Maybe? I find claude code's abilities in 3D CAD to be much worse than python or rust coding capabilities

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Hard to tell whether this a bug or a feature request. but I thought we start with Bug and go from there.

No doubt this may be due to a lack of training data but the watching the think outputs reveals much backtracking, going over seemingly the same issues and not making as much progress as needed. I've uploaded a transcript of today's session which is part number 3 that I've tried to create with Claude Code. Note I also created specific skills to help with the CAD program api which is a python scripting CAD program Build123d.... not sure i would have similar scripts for the other two parts. But this part has taken two days of effort and this transcript is only todays session which started with a session-summary.md file from yesterdays session that took all afternoon with no code generated. No doubt there's much confusion on my english specifications for the part but as I saw confusion in the thinking thread I tried to interject what I thought needed to be corrected. But in many cases those interjections/interruptions were not honored until later. I found using Code in this domain to be much less valuable than other domains i've used it in... if there's more information you need just let me know...

What Should Happen?

Claude code should create the python script with minimal backtracking and if there's some confusion it should have prompted me to clarify.

Steps to Reproduce

ok now build part 3, realize the 3AA batteries have weight and volume that add to the part 3 frame considerations. The temp sensor at the bottom doesn't weigh anything in comparison. But also that the 40mm radius PCB needs to screw ontop of the frame with the M2 screw bosses located on the vertexes of a 50mm square. and also that part 3 must be able to be fitted into part 2 from the top

Then immediately followed by two clarifications:

note the pcb is screwed into the frame using the M2 screw bosses with M2 screws coming in from the above the pcb locking it into the frame top

note the pcb is 1mm thick and has to fit ontop of the part 3 frame inside part 2 which screws into part1

And then later the battery access direction:

the batteries must slide in from outside the frame to the battery cage. The batteries need metalic spring loaded connections within each separate AA battery cage. These could be a simple metal sheet folded and inserte into the endos of each AA battery cage which is then wired to serialize their power used to feed the pcb

Is this a regression?

I don't know
