[Bug] Sub-agent completion detection inconsistent in sequential workflow

Bug Description
My sub-agent workflow is now inconsistent. I have a skill that run sub agents sequentally for each commit and it now gets stuck half of the time waiting for the sub agent to finish even though it has already finished. I need to ask it what the status is before it realizes the sub agent has finished.
