Feature request: folder/category organization for conversation sidebar

Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Jun 14, 2026 by tomassediment Closed Jun 18, 2026

Summary

Add the ability to organize conversations into folders or categories in the Claude Code sidebar.

Problem

As a heavy user of Claude Code across multiple projects and companies, the sidebar becomes a long flat list of conversations with no way to group them. Currently the only organization is chronological ordering and manual naming conventions (e.g. prefixing titles with attic_, sediment_, etc.).

Proposed solution

Allow users to create named folders or categories in the sidebar and assign conversations to them. Similar to how browser bookmarks or VS Code workspaces work.

Possible approaches

  • Drag-and-drop conversations into folders
  • Right-click context menu to assign a conversation to a folder
  • Auto-grouping by project/working directory

Why it matters

Power users working across multiple projects, clients, or companies accumulate dozens of sessions quickly. Folders would make it much easier to context-switch and find relevant past conversations without relying solely on memory or naming conventions.
