[BUG] Skill activation message appears repeatedly in chat on every session
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
When a skill is installed (e.g. motion-design) with Trigger set to "Slash command + auto", the following message appears automatically at the start of every new conversation:
"Hey Claude—I just added the 'motion-design' skill. Can you make something amazing with it?"
This message is not present in the skill's SKILL.md file and cannot be disabled from the Skills settings UI. There is no toggle to suppress this activation prompt.
Expected behavior: The activation message should either not appear, or there should be an option to disable it.
Steps to reproduce:
- Install any skill with "auto" trigger
- Start a new conversation
- The activation message appears automatically
Platform: macOS, Claude Code desktop app
What Should Happen?
The skill activation message should not appear automatically in every new conversation, or there should be an option in the Skills settings UI to disable it.
