[BUG]

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

On the Max 20x plan, my 5-hour rolling usage window showed 36% consumed after 10+ hours of complete inactivity. The window should have fully expired and reset to 0%. Additionally, usage climbed from 46% to 52% while I was away from all devices with no interaction.

What Should Happen?

After 10+ hours of inactivity, a rolling 5-hour usage window should read approximately 0%. Usage should only increase in response to actual user-initiated requests.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use Claude normally, reaching ~46% of the 5-hour window
  2. Stop all activity and go to sleep (~10 hours of inactivity across all devices)
  3. Wake up and check claude.ai Settings > Usage
  4. Observe 36% usage despite the rolling window having fully expired
  5. Do a small amount of work, bring usage to ~46%
  6. Step away from all devices again (no interaction)
  7. Return and observe usage has climbed to 52% without any activity

Additional Information

Expected Behavior
After 10+ hours of inactivity, a rolling 5-hour window should read approximately 0%. Usage should only increase in response to actual user-initiated requests.

Actual Behavior
36% usage after a full overnight idle period. An additional unexplained 6% increase during a subsequent idle period with zero interaction.

Additional Context
Account sharing ruled out: active sessions show only my own devices, all from Frankfurt am Main, Germany (screenshot attached).
No MCP servers, integrations, connectors, or browser extensions configured.
Local Claude Code logs (~/.claude/projects/**/*.jsonl) show no requests during the overnight period.
No cron jobs, CI pipelines, or automation tasks on this account.
This matches the pattern in #41084, #41930, and #38335. The 36% figure surviving a full window reset points to a server-side metering bug, not anything client-side. Contacted support via support.claude.com — informed they cannot access server-side logs.
