Man it's so annoying, I saw cowork would compress the context automatically if it started being too big, now it just breaks for some reason and I can't even do a handover.
I have run into the same issue, I have plenty of 5-hourly and weekly usage left, and I also have £15 extra credits, which is even turned on. Yet, it is not even trying to use my extra credits as it says in the message. I can't continue my work, until this is fixed.
Same issue in both cowork and code on a pro plan. started 36 hours ago

Can somebody from Claude team reply? We are all experiencing the same problem. Ih has been going on for over 5 days for me personally.
We have credits, we have still time available and I personally Pay the Max (100 $ ) version, so what is the problem?
It keep saying: you're out of usage credits. Buy more to keep going now. But we have credits and the extra credits is also turn on. So no problem at all from our credits side.
URGENT!! REPLY
Same here anyone had any solution ?
same issue so freaking annoying!trying to work
yeah fixed it, just opened a new task in the cowork space
I mean thats just a hack. I tell Claude to let me know when the session is roughly more than 50 messages (There's a cap at 80 I think), and I have a handover skill that essentially generates a prompt for the next session to pick where the last session left off from. Plus I keep a task tracking dashboard artefact. But it still feels like a hack.
hello, after 2 updates, nothing changes, automatic compact does not work

I’ve got the same nonsense too. What a waste of time...
Adding to the list. So frustrating, makes it nearly impossible to work. Having to keep making new conversations and context is now everywhere.

Bug: Cowork defaulting to 1M context on Pro plan with small project — was working fine earlier today
Plan: Claude Pro
Platform: macOS, Claude desktop app (Cowork)
What's wrong:
Cowork is throwing "API Error: Usage credits required for 1M context" on every task in my CareerOS project. This started suddenly around 1pm ET today (June 5, 2026) with no changes on my end.
Project details:
What I've tried:
sudo npm update -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code— did not fix it--modelflag — same errorExpected behavior: Standard context should be used automatically on Pro with a 517KB project. This was working fine earlier today.
Impact: My entire job search workflow is built in this project and is completely blocked.
Hello, it is becoming embarrassing, we all in this thread and probably many other paying users are in trouble because this is making our work impossible, slow or loosing context every time we start a new chat on co-work just to avoid this problem.
I also saw that you are running a sort of Benefit. I see this on my Claude Max plan, but it is not even applying! Are you playing with us?
I see that I should get this benefit (maybe for the problem you created?) but then it doen not apply as I can not see anything in my usage page. What's wrong with you? We are paying 100$ /month.

Hello, any news regarding the problem we are all having?Would you solve the problem and give us all a month free for this enormous problem which is stopping our work?
Thank you
