High CPU/Battery Drain from Excessive Status Line Refresh in Idle State

Bug Description
Claude Code 1.0.88 is refreshing at a _much_ higher rate than it used to in 1.0.86. My statusline is being called / updated very often, even when the terminal is idle / waiting for user's turn. This results in a pretty considerable power draw at idle, and is trashing my battery life. Can we go back to the lower refresh-on-demand rate in prior versions or get a config entry to limit/disable idle refreshes?
