Feature request: option to switch between classic and new minimal UI
Feature Request
Summary: Add a configuration option to toggle between the classic UI and the new minimal startup interface.
Background:
In recent versions (v2.x), the startup screen was redesigned to a minimal layout, removing:
- The bordered frame around the welcome screen
- The "Welcome back" greeting
- The "Tips for getting started" panel on the right side
Request:
Please add a setting (e.g., in /config or settings.json) that allows users to choose between:
- Classic UI – bordered welcome screen with tips panel
- Minimal UI – the current streamlined layout (default)
This would let users who prefer the richer onboarding experience opt back in, while keeping the new minimal design as the default for new users.
Why it matters:
Some users find the tips panel and bordered layout helpful as a quick reference, especially when returning to Claude Code after a break. A simple toggle would satisfy both preferences without forcing a single design on everyone.
