[Feature Request] Improve worktree branch selection logic to default to current branch context

Resolved 💬 1 comment Opened May 22, 2026 by mh-avant Closed Jun 21, 2026

Bug Description
Claude needs to be smarter about how it makes worktrees. They should be based on whatever Claude is currently looking at unless Claude explicitly says otherwise. Teammates on worktrees keep randomly working off of other branches. Even in cases where 3 teammates work off of one prompt, I've seen all 3 use different bases for their worktrees somehow. It also periodically makes weird choices when merging work back into the parent.

This seems more likely to happen with worktrees that reference branches defined in other worktrees, but I have seen it with simple worktrees made off of a repo too. claude --worktree also makes weird choices about the base for its worktrees.
