[BUG] spawn-task / local-agent-mode session orphaned, not visible in app or terminal but PID still alive

Resolved 💬 4 comments Opened May 20, 2026 by arcaneapps Closed Jun 19, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Claude Code CLI auto-updates can leave orphan spawn-task subprocesses from the previous version still running (yesterday's PID 34240 had 2.1.142-vintage args, but the binary became 2.1.145)

Claude.app sidebar occasionally shows duplicate entries for a single session UUID

Recovery is kill <pid> + resume from .jsonl in a fresh terminal

What Should Happen?

Claude handoff should be seamless between desktop and iOS instances

Error Messages/Logs

No error output

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Leave a Claude.app desktop instance
  2. Go to resume Code session on ios client, no sessions exist
  3. Only remedy is to kill <pid> + resume from .jsonl in a fresh terminal

Claude Model

Opus

Is this a regression?

I don't know
