Bug Description
Issue: Claude Code efficiency improvement not working correctly in Terminal CLI with VS Code
I'm experiencing an issue where my Claude Code efficiency gains don't match expected behavior after recent improvements. This issue is specific to Claude Code Terminal CLI used with VS Code - Claude on the website appears to be working normally. (although not 100% sure)
Expected behavior:
- With the permanent efficiency improvement, a full 5-hour session should use ~13-16% of weekly limits (accounting for the temporary 50% weekly boost through July 13th)
- Before efficiency improvements: full session used 10-12% weekly
- After efficiency improvements (before weekly boost): full session used 24-25% weekly
- After 50% weekly boost applied: 24-25% should become ~16-17% of the new larger weekly pool
Actual behavior:
- Full 5-hour sessions (100% session limit) only consume 6% of my weekly limit
- This suggests the efficiency improvement isn't fully applied to my CLI account
- Additionally, my 5-hour session window depletes at an accelerated rate compared to pre-improvement baseline, indicating the session limit consumption rate is not benefiting from the efficiency enhancement
Troubleshooting completed:
- Ran /doctor, /status, /usage - all show normal configuration
- Multiple fresh sessions started
- Logged out/in multiple times
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Claude extension
- CLI purge performed
- VS Code updated
- Tried /clear and /compact commands
- Verified model and effort settings
The math indicates my account isn't receiving the full benefit of the Claude Code efficiency enhancement in the Terminal CLI, possibly related to the major system incidents between May 8-13.
