[BUG] Cowork Desktop (Mac): No way to unarchive an archived project

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened May 14, 2026 by amery3 Closed Jun 18, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

In the Claude Cowork desktop app on macOS, once a project is archived there is no way to unarchive it. The project disappears from the Projects list entirely and does not appear in the web interface at claude.ai/projects either — Cowork desktop projects are a separate data layer from claude.ai web projects.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Claude Cowork desktop app on Mac
  2. Go to Projects
  3. Hover over a project → click "..." → select "Archive"
  4. Try to find and unarchive it — no archived tab, no filter, and no way to access the project again

Note: The web interface at claude.ai/projects does have an "Archived" tab, but it does NOT show Cowork desktop projects. The two are completely separate. This makes archived Cowork projects permanently inaccessible.

Related closed issue (same bug, auto-closed): #30201

What Should Happen?

The Cowork desktop app should have an "Archived" tab or filter in the Projects view, showing all archived projects with an option to unarchive them — similar to how claude.ai web handles it.

Error Messages/Logs

No error logs — the issue is a missing UI feature. Archived projects simply vanish with no way to recover them from within the Cowork desktop app.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude Cowork desktop app on Mac
  2. Go to Projects in the left sidebar
  3. Hover over any project card
  4. Click the "..." menu that appears
  5. Select "Archive"
  6. Now try to find and unarchive the project — there is no Archived tab, no filter, and no menu option to recover it

Note: Checking claude.ai/projects in the browser also does NOT show Cowork desktop projects — they are a completely separate data layer.

Claude Model

Is this a regression?

Yes, this worked in a previous version

Last Working Version

Claude Code Version

Cowork Desktop App (macOS) — version unknown

Platform

Anthropic API

Operating System

macOS

Terminal/Shell

Terminal.app (macOS)

Additional Information

This issue is specific to the Claude Cowork desktop app, not the Claude Code CLI. The Cowork app stores projects separately from claude.ai web — so even the web workaround does not help. A previous related issue (#30201) was auto-closed without a fix.
