Prompt Processing Hang: Requires Manual Intervention on Initial Startup

Resolved 💬 5 comments Opened Aug 15, 2025 by almirsarajcic Closed Nov 28, 2025

Bug Description
Claude Code is stuck processing the initial prompt passed to it via "claude $PROMPT". To get it unstuck, I have to press ESC and type in anything like "continue", "proceed", etc. Then it reads the initial prompt and starts working.

However, if I type in some different instructions, then the initial prompt gets ignored. But that's not the issue. The issue is that I can't just let it be when I initially start it, but do this additional step.

It's not a big deal, hence this bug report was created probably weeks after it started happening. But I haven't seen this issue on GitHub, nor a fix for it, so I thought I'd create it myself.
