[BUG] Linux/Ubuntu Terminal Newline mis-labeled ('Alt+Enter' would be correct)
Resolved 💬 4 comments Opened Aug 14, 2025 by simon-ami Closed Aug 18, 2025
Environment
- Platform (select one):
- [x] Anthropic API
- [ ] AWS Bedrock
- [ ] Google Vertex AI
- [ ] Other: <!-- specify -->
- Claude CLI version: 1.0.80 (Claude Code)
- Operating System: Ubuntu 24.04
- Terminal: Zsh + Alacritty
Bug Description
The tips and /terminal-setup command mention Shift+Enter instead of Alt+Enter.
First one doesn't work, only Alt+Enter.
Steps to Reproduce
- Start Claude Code
- try
Shift+Enter - Will not produce Newline!
Expected Behavior
Any documentation/tips should mention the correct keybinding and the /terminal-setup should set the correct keybinding, NOT Shift+Enter, but Alt+Enter.
Actual Behavior
Incorrectly labeled.
Additional Context
SOLUTION: Just use Alt + Enter for newlines
