[BUG] Claude Desktop hangs / stops responding after using Cowork on macOS 15.6.1 (Apple Silicon)

Environment

  • macOS: 15.6.1 (Sequoia, build 24G90)
  • Architecture: Apple Silicon (M1, T8103)
  • Claude Desktop: latest (App Support dir ~1.9 GB)
  • Claude Code CLI: installed alongside

Description

After opening / using the Cowork tab in Claude Desktop, the app stops responding. Force quit + relaunch is required to recover. Issue is reproducible across sessions.

Notes

Existing reports (#32225, #23830, #26646) cover macOS 26.x. Filing this to track the same class of hang on macOS 15 Sequoia, which does not appear to be covered.

VM bundle (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/vm_bundles, 973 MB) and claude-code-vm (237 MB) cache cleared as a workaround; will report back if the hang reproduces on a fresh VM download.

Repro

  1. Launch Claude Desktop on macOS 15.6.1
  2. Open the Cowork tab
  3. App becomes unresponsive (spinning wheel, no input accepted)

Expected

Cowork tab loads and remains responsive.
