[Bug] Claude GitHub App authentication fails on specific personal repositories despite valid installation
Bug Description
Subject: Persistent GitHub Authentication Error on Personal Repository
Description of Issue:
I am receiving a persistent authentication error when trying to sync a repository using the Claude GitHub/Cowork plugin. Despite the app being correctly installed and configured on GitHub, Claude fails to recognize the installation.
Error Message:
"Authentication with GitHub failed. Check that the Claude GitHub App is installed on this repository. GitHub authentication failed. The Claude GitHub App is not installed on this repository. Install it to grant access."
Troubleshooting Already Performed:
Ownership: Verified this is a personal repository (not an organization or a fork).
Repository Access: Confirmed the "Claude" GitHub App is installed. I have toggled between "All repositories" and "Only select repositories," ensuring the specific repo is explicitly selected.
Permissions: Verified that no "Permission updates requested" banners are present on the GitHub App configuration page.
Re-installation: Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Claude GitHub App.
Cross-Check: Other repositories within the same GitHub account are syncing perfectly with the plugin; only this specific repository (and potentially new ones) is being rejected.
Environment: Attempted the sync in an Incognito/Private window to rule out local cache issues.
Request:
It appears there is a disconnect between the GitHub App’s installation token and the Claude project backend mapping. Could you please check if there is a sync lag or a "zombie" permission state for my account's connection to this specific repository?
