What's Wrong?

I'm experiencing severe performance issues with Claude Desktop when attaching our company's organizational knowledge base (Obsidian vault/"Company Brain"), while 10+ colleagues using the identical setup experience no issues.

Environment:
Application: Claude Desktop
OS: Windows [your version]
Issue persists across: New computer, after antivirus removal (HP Wolf), cache clearing

Symptoms:
10+ minute wait times when attaching Company Brain folder
Frequent timeouts
Memory diagnostics show growth rate of 1,254,577 MB/hour
Native memory > heap warning

Key Details:
10+ coworkers successfully use identical Company Brain setup without performance issues
Coworker's memory diagnostics show similar growth rate but no performance problems
Issue is environment-specific to my setup only
Persists across different computers
Occurs specifically with Company Brain folder attachment

Troubleshooting Already Attempted:
New computer
Removed antivirus software (HP Wolf)
Cleared cache via Help → Troubleshooting
Generated heapdump diagnostics
Compared with working colleague setups

Diagnostic Files:
The fact that colleagues use the same setup successfully suggests an environmental factor specific to my configuration, but standard troubleshooting hasn't identified the root cause.

What Should Happen?

Claude Desktop should attach and process the Company Brain folder (Obsidian vault) within a reasonable timeframe (under 1 minute) without timeouts or excessive wait times, consistent with the experience of other team members using the identical setup. The application should handle large organizational knowledge bases efficiently regardless of individual environment configurations, or provide clear diagnostic feedback about environment-specific factors causing performance degradation.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch Claude Desktop on Windows [your version]
  2. Open a new conversation
  3. Attempt to attach the Company Brain folder (Obsidian vault) containing [approximate file count] files
  4. Observe 10+ minute wait time during attachment process
  5. Experience frequent timeouts when Claude attempts to process the folder
  6. Note: Same folder structure attaches successfully within ~1 minute for 10+ colleagues using identical setup

Additional Context:

  • Issue persists across different computers
  • Occurs specifically with Company Brain folder; other folders attach normally
  • Memory diagnostics show growth rate of 1,254,577 MB/hour (though colleague with similar rate experiences no performance issues)
