Preflight Checklist

  • [x] This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

I'm interested in incorporating devcontainers into my team's setup for additional safeguards and security, especially after reading about agents doing unexpected things (https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/artificial-intelligence/claude-powered-ai-coding-agent-deletes-entire-company-database-in-9-seconds-backups-zapped-after-cursor-tool-powered-by-anthropics-claude-goes-rogue). However, we currently have some users who use Claude Desktop's code tab as well as those who use the CLI (alone or in VSCode), and I'd like for everyone to be able to continue their existing workflows.

Proposed Solution

I don't have UI specifics here--it's more of a business case: Use Claude Desktop to write code inside the safety of a devcontainer.

Alternative Solutions

We could force teammates to converge on the CLI + VSCode. I'd rather allow a diversity of workflows though, and the Desktop app has a lot to offer!
