[Bug] Significant performance degradation in recent builds

Bug Description
in the last week or so it has become unbearably slow. I've rulled out context bloat. it might be 4.7 or it might be some new rate limiting but if it doesn't improve I'll move to Codex at the end of my billing cycle.
