Bug Description
Claude Sonnet 4.6[1m] just gave me diametrically opposing, mutually exclusive reasoning that self-conflicted. I am trying to set up a clean workspace, because after the last two months, I realize that the frustration that has been occurring over the last several months is most likely largely self-imposed and partly Anthropic imposed. Encountering scenarios like this where I have to pay super careful attention to ensure that very basic reasoning / thinking is checking out (please don't insist on two diametrically opposing, mutually exclusive truths at the same time) is a failure of "intelligence."

Specific Scenario

  • I'm trying to set up beads and I'm trying to make sure I have a good "layered" system.
  • My previous system had 3 layers - Global, Workspace (w/ many projects), and Projects
  • I realized the middle layer is unnecessary, because i really just want one global workspace
  • So, i'm trying to eliminate 3-layer systems from my workspace, because that middle layer created a lot of maintenance overhead that I fell down on
  • Sonnet 4.6[1m] just told me, both "There's no reason that ~/.beads needs to exist at the ~/ global level" and "There are several reasons why there must be a ~/.beads/ directory at the ~/ global level, and there's no way to remove it."
  • This is a pivotal implementation / architecture decision for my set up
  • ...in the interest of staying moderately professional, this frustrates me as much as i imagine it would frustrate any person who is speaking to a pathological, tautological, incoherent liar, who also hides their lies in layers of obfuscated text, making it MORE DIFFICULT for you to actually find truth / clarity (at least). It's antithetical to Anthropic's mission / vision / work (which I broadly love).
  • It's also - tactically - a very specific kind of intelligence failure on reasoning and chain of thought, which I hope will get more specific attention as a result of this feedback.
