What's Wrong?

Hi,

I'd like to file a bug report for a Claude Desktop launch failure.

Claude Desktop version: 1.3109.0.0
Windows version: Windows 11 24H2
Error message: "Claude Desktop failed to launch. Please check for updates and try again. If the issue persists, contact support at support.claude.com"
Logs: None — no entries in Windows Event Viewer (Windows Logs → Application) and no Claude or AnthropicClaude folders exist in AppData\Roaming or AppData\Local.

The app appears installed according to PowerShell (SignatureKind: Developer), but it never gets far enough to generate any logs.

Steps already tried:

  • Updated Windows 11 to the latest version
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the app from claude.com/download
  • Deleted residual AppData folders (none existed)
  • Ran the app as administrator
  • Removed packages via PowerShell and reinstalled
  • Enabled "Allow all trusted apps to install" via Group Policy Editor

None of these resolved the issue. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Steps to Reproduce

Download Claude Desktop (version 1.3109.0.0) from claude.com/download (x64 installer)
Install the app on Windows 11 24H2
Open Claude Desktop from the Start menu
The error message appears immediately: "Claude Desktop failed to launch. Please check for updates and try again."
