Problem Statement
Feature Request: Support for Locking Conversation Titles
Problem
Currently, Claude Code automatically updates conversation titles based on the dialogue content. When a user manually edits a conversation name, any new interaction causes the title to be automatically overwritten, making it impossible to maintain custom names.
Proposed Solution
Add one of the following options:
- Add a "lock" icon next to conversation titles, allowing users to pin custom titles
- Add a configuration setting
claudeCode.autoRenameConversations: falseto disable auto-renaming - After manual renaming, prompt the user whether to keep that name
Use Cases
- Long-term conversations for specific projects that need consistent names (e.g., "React Project", "Backend API Development")
- Organizing conversations by topic for easier retrieval
- Distinguishing between multiple similar-themed conversations with custom names
Current Workaround
No ideal workaround available.
Additional Context
- Platform: macOS
- Claude Code Version: 2.1.89
