[BUG] duplicate projects in selector due to case-insensitive file system on MacOS

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

The case-insensitive filesystem causing duplicate project entries in the selector. I changed the capitalization of a project I am working on, now the project selector shows both the new and the old spelling, even though there is only one project directory. MacOS 15.7.4

What Should Happen?

It would be nice if one could remove projects from the selector without affecting the project directory. After all, it's easy enough to add them back if you change your mind.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

1) create a project (e.g. LittleProject)
2) ask claude to change the name of the project and update the project directories by changing the capitalization (Littlproject)
3) if you switch to the new spelling, the old one is still in the proejctselector.
