[BUG] Remote Control not available on Pro plan — "unknown skill" error on Windows

Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Apr 1, 2026 by danielduggan06 Closed Apr 13, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

I'm a Claude Pro subscriber and I'm unable to use the Remote Control feature despite the official documentation at https://code.claude.com/docs/en/remote-control stating it is available on Pro plans. Running /remote-control inside a Claude Code session returns an "unknown skill" error immediately.

Environment:

  • Claude Code version: 2.1.63
  • Plan: Claude Pro
  • OS: Windows
  • Terminal: PowerShell
  • Auth method: claude.ai (first-party, not API key)
  • Email: daniel@dugganco.com
  • Org: daniel@dugganco.com's Organization

What Should Happen?

/remote-control should start a Remote Control session and display a QR code and session URL as documented at https://code.claude.com/docs/en/remote-control

Error Messages/Logs

unknown skill

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Claude Code v2.1.63 on Windows
  2. Authenticate via /login with a Claude Pro account
  3. Start a Claude Code session
  4. Run /remote-control inside the session
  5. Error appears immediately: "unknown skill"

Note: Also tried claude remote-control from the command line directly with the same result.
