Dispatch: messages received but no response sent back

Description

When using Dispatch in the Claude Desktop App (macOS), messages sent from iPhone or the same MacBook are received and visible, but Claude does not respond back in the Dispatch interface.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Claude Desktop App on Mac (Mac Mini, macOS 15.4)
  2. Send a message via Dispatch from iPhone (or from the same Mac)
  3. Claude appears to receive/read the message
  4. No response is sent back in Dispatch

Expected behavior

Claude should process the Dispatch message and send a response back in the Dispatch interface.

Actual behavior

Message is received (visible on the Mac side) but no response is generated or returned to the sender.

Environment

  • Claude Code version: 2.1.88 (native)
  • Claude Desktop App version: latest (Electron)
  • macOS: Darwin 25.4.0 (Mac Mini)
  • Multiple claude-code subprocesses running (scheduled tasks)
  • MCP servers: 11 connected

Additional context

The Mac Mini is an always-on machine running scheduled tasks. The Desktop App is running with multiple active sessions. It's unclear whether Dispatch requires the app to be in foreground or whether messages are meant to inject into an active session.
