Voice mode: latency, recording inconsistency, and random interruptions
Resolved 💬 4 comments Opened Mar 30, 2026 by Chazz321 Closed Apr 3, 2026
Summary
Voice mode has several reliability issues that make it difficult to use consistently.
Issues
- Significant latency — Noticeable delay when using voice mode, making conversation feel sluggish.
- Recording inconsistency — When recording is toggled on, it's unclear whether recording is actually happening. Sometimes it captures input, sometimes it doesn't, with no clear indicator of the difference.
- Random interruptions — Recording will start working, capture input for a short period, then spontaneously stop recording mid-speech without user action. This requires manually restarting the recording.
Expected behavior
- Voice input should have minimal, consistent latency
- Recording state should be reliable — when toggled on, it should always be actively recording
- Recording should continue until the user explicitly stops it
Environment
- Platform: macOS (Darwin 25.3.0)
- Using Claude Code CLI
