Getting this when I launch Claude Code.

"Claude Pro users are not currently able to use Opus 4 in Claude Code. The current model is now Sonnet 4."

I've tried logging out and back in and reinstalling claude. Currently running Claude with cursor

I'm getting the same issue, i'm a paying claude user, and just got opus removed from being able to use it.

I literally paid the extra $100 money to be able to access that, is this a joke ?

I tried logging in, logging out, uninstalling claude, installing a week old claude code version, installing the latest claude code version. None of them worked

I signed up for this plan yesterday simply because my Opus usage was costing me more than having a plan to begin with. Where is the communication?

I think this is somehow related to this bug,
I remember adding the 1 yr permanent claude oauth to my settings,

It's fixed now !

Once I removed the CLAUDE_OAUTH_TOKEN from my environment it immediately fixed it now its working

@ilulillirillion and @drewschettler try removing that oauth token until its fixed, to get back access

Can confirm that it works for me after clearing that out of the environment and restarting the session. Unclear if this is an old bug resurfaced or something new, but thanks for that @teito-dev

Can you please tell me how to remove that oauth token from the environment, step by step?

Quit claude, delete ~/.claude/.credentials.json, start claude, run /login, restart claude.

Try version 1.0.57 released today. It worked for me.

If you don't have the credentials file and/or are already using the latest version, try simply logging out and logging back in. For me, this was what was needed after upgrading from Pro. No need to do anything else.

If it helps anyone... I've noted claude setup-token that generates the 1-year long-lived OAuth tokens appears to be limited to Sonnet as described in this issue, while the /login command within claude code (or that auto login prompt on first launch) which generates short-lived OAuth tokens included the ability to switch. Tested on Max plan.

So that could be another "cause" of this kind of behavior.

After several rounds of trying the following:

-generating new OAuth code by running claude set-up token
-entirely removing OAuth code in.zhsrc
-logout / login
-uninstalling claude code / reinstalling it

I´m still not able to get /model opus

Please help

ben-vargas · 1 year ago

@llmcourtfield see my comment above yours, the command your using (claude setup-token) only provisions OAuth tokens granting only sonnet (long term 1-year token is limited to sonnet). You MUST use the /login or if you install and in first launch, it should give you an option to login with subscription automatically.

Clear out ~/.cursor/.credentials.json (or equivalent if in Windows) and launch claude code and login within the app.
