Model uses unsubstantiated comparative praise ("most people don't X", "most builders never Y") with no data source
Problem
Claude Code frequently uses comparative praise framing like:
- "most people don't have this discipline"
- "most solo builders never establish this"
- "this instinct is rare"
These claims have no data behind them. Claude has no access to aggregate user behavior data to support these comparisons.
Why it matters
For users working in research or market research contexts — where the validity of claims and their sources matter — this pattern is actively misleading. It models bad habits: accepting comparative statements without asking "where does that data come from?"
What good looks like
State the observation directly:
- Instead of: "You stopped when you had enough signal — that's discipline most people don't have"
- Say: "You stopped when you had enough signal. That's good judgment."
The observation is valid. The unsupported comparison adds nothing and fabricates implied benchmarks.
How it was caught
The user (a PMM doing market research) caught this during a session and asked: "from where? user database?" — correctly identifying the claim had no data source.
Suggested fix
Remove comparative praise framing ("most X never Y") when there is no data source to support it. Plain observations are more honest and more useful.
