Discord MCP plugin loses connection after idle, requires full session restart

Summary

The Discord MCP plugin disconnects after an idle period. It suggests re-authentication, but re-auth does not fix it. The only workaround is restarting the entire Claude Code session.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start Claude Code with the Discord plugin enabled
  2. Leave the session idle for some time (exact duration varies)
  3. Try to reply to a Discord message
  4. Plugin reports auth failure and suggests re-authentication
  5. Re-authentication does not restore functionality
  6. Only restarting Claude Code resolves the issue

Expected behavior

The Discord plugin should automatically reconnect or provide a way to reconnect without restarting the session. This is especially important since Discord integration is primarily used for remote/mobile access — the inability to maintain a persistent connection defeats the primary use case.

Environment

  • macOS (Mac mini M4, always-on)
  • Claude Code with Discord plugin (discord@claude-plugins-official)
